Furnish a 2D Floor Plan with AI

Upload an empty 2D floor plan, pick the 3D view style and get a furnished view of the plan from straight above. It is a rendered picture, not a 2D drawing with furniture symbols, and the furniture is not placed to scale.

What is a furnished floor plan?

A furnished floor plan is a floor plan with furniture shown in its rooms, so a viewer can tell what each room is for. With ArchiVinci you make one from an empty 2D floor plan. Upload a picture of the plan, pick the 3D view style, and the AI generates a furnished view seen from straight above.

The result is a rendered picture seen from above, not a 2D drawing with furniture symbols, and the furniture is not placed to scale. Keep the empty plan for measurements. The furnished view shows how the rooms could be lived in.

How to Furnish a Floor Plan with AI

To add furniture to a floor plan, use the Floor plan module of the ArchiVinci app.

  1. Open the Floor plan module with the button below, then sign in or create an account to upload and generate. The Furnish module is for photos of empty rooms, not for plans.

  2. Upload a picture of your empty floor plan under Input image: JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB.

  3. Under Style (required), pick 3D view, the only one of the four styles that asks for furnished rooms.

  4. Under Prompt (optional), you can add a sentence about the furniture look, the floor finishes or what each room is used for. With nothing typed, the style asks for modern furniture.

  5. Press Generate: on the default engine, one image costs one credit. The result opens in a before/after viewer, and you can download it.

An Empty Floor Plan, Furnished Two Ways

Both examples use the same empty floor plan and the 3D view style, in two separate runs. The other three styles, Marker, Solid color and Drawing, ask for a new look for the plan as it is drawn, not for added furniture: see how to color or render a floor plan.

3D View with Nothing Typed

Empty 2D floor plan of a two-bedroom apartment on the left; on the right a furnished view of the plan, seen from straight above.
Left: the empty plan as uploaded. Right: the result of the 3D view style with the prompt left empty.

The plan was uploaded as it is and the prompt was left empty. On its own, the style asks for modern furniture, white walls and realistic textures. In this example the rooms got furniture that fits their use: a bed in each bedroom, a sofa and a dining table in the living room.

3D View with One Typed Sentence

This example used the same plan and one typed sentence:

Dark wood floors and walnut furniture with dark green upholstery.
The same empty floor plan on the left; on the right a furnished view with dark wood floors and dark green upholstery, seen from above.
Left: the same empty plan. Right: 3D view with the prompt "Dark wood floors and walnut furniture with dark green upholstery."

Compared with the first example, the floors came out in dark wood and the upholstery in dark green.

Your sentence is added to what the style already asks for and does not replace it. Keep it to one or two sentences.

What kind of floor plan can you upload?

You can upload one image of a 2D floor plan with the walls, doors and windows drawn and the rooms empty. It must be a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 5 MB, so export a PDF or CAD file as an image first.

You bring the plan. The module does not draw one for you. The 3D view style asks for a picture with no text or labels, so do not expect room names or dimension text in the furnished view.

What You Get and What to Check

You get one image file in the proportions of your upload: a furnished top-down view of your plan.

The AI redraws your plan as a new image. It is a picture for presentation, not a measured drawing, so check walls, doors and windows against your original. Also look for furniture that blocks a door or stands across a window.

  • There is no CAD, PDF or vector file.

  • A run cannot move or swap just one piece of furniture.

  • Every run gives a different picture. To change something, describe it in the prompt and generate again.

Who uses furnished floor plans?

Furnished floor plans are for people who need to show how an empty home could be lived in.

Real Estate Agents and Developers

An empty plan shows a buyer the layout, and a furnished view shows how the rooms could be used. Put the two side by side in a real estate listing.

This studio was furnished with the 3D view style and one typed sentence:

A studio apartment with a double bed, a small sofa, a dining table for two and a kitchenette.

Left: an empty studio plan. Right: 3D view with the prompt "A studio apartment with a double bed, a small sofa, a dining table for two and a kitchenette."

For photos of the empty rooms themselves, use virtual staging.

Designers at Concept Stage

Generate a first furnished version of a plan to talk through with a client. Type the look you have in mind; another look is another run. To try one specific piece in a render or a photo of a room, you can add an object or people to a render.

Homeowners Planning a Move or a Renovation

See the plan from your agent or builder with furniture in it before you move in or start work. The picture does not tell you whether your own furniture fits.

If you have a photo of the empty room instead of a plan, you can furnish an empty room. For layout ideas for one room, try AI room design from a photo.

Frequently Asked Questions About Furnishing a Floor Plan with AI

How does AI add furniture to a floor plan?

The AI generates a new picture of your plan with furniture in it; it does not place symbols on your drawing. The 3D view style carries a fixed request for a realistic furnished plan seen from straight above, and what you type is added to it.

Can I turn a 2D floor plan into a 3D floor plan?

Into a picture that looks 3D, yes; into a 3D model, no. The 3D view style asks for a realistic furnished view from straight above, with no tilt. You get one image file: nothing to turn around, walk through or open in 3D or CAD software.

Is the furniture placed to scale?

No. Nothing reads the dimensions or the scale of your plan, and there is no field to enter them. Use the picture to show how the rooms could be used and your measured plan to check what fits.

Can I choose the furniture style or change just one room?

You can describe the furniture style in the prompt, but a run cannot change one room on its own. With nothing typed, the 3D view style asks for modern furniture. Every run redraws the whole plan, so every room can change: say what should be different and generate again.

Can I use the furnished floor plan in a real estate listing?

It works as an illustration of how the rooms could be used, shown next to the original plan. Label it as AI-generated and keep the original plan in the listing for sizes. Before you publish, compare it with the home: walls, doors, kitchen and bathroom.

Is it free to furnish a floor plan with AI?

A new account gets 3 free credits. One image on the default engine, ArchiVinci 4.0, costs one credit, so that is three furnished views, one per run. You need an account to upload and to generate.
