AI interior design tools turn a photo, a sketch or a 3D view of a room into new design ideas, but they do different jobs: some restyle a room photo with preset styles, some plan rooms in 2D and 3D, and some stage empty rooms for property listings. Below are 17 tools grouped by who they suit, each with what it does, its limits and its plans.

How we checked: in October 2026 we read each tool's own website and pricing page for what you upload, how you steer the result, the free start, the paid plans and commercial use. Prices are in US dollars as the vendors show them, and they change often; where a vendor does not publish a figure, we say so. ArchiVinci is our own product.

AI Interior Design Tools for Designers and Architects

ArchiVinci

ArchiVinci, our own product, is an AI rendering app for architects and interior designers that runs in the browser, on a computer or a phone. In the Interior module you upload one image of a room, such as a photo, a sketch or a 3D model view, describe the materials, colors and style in a sentence, and pick a lighting button if you want one; the AI interior design generator then generates a new image that follows your upload. The same app handles exteriors and AI rendering of sketches and model views.

ArchiVinci's Interior module: an uploaded 3D view of a living room next to the rendered image, with the prompt box and lighting buttons on the left
  • Suits: architects and designers who start from their own photos, sketches or model views and want interiors and exteriors in one place.

  • Limits: there is no style menu or room-type picker, so your description sets the look; every run draws a new image, so details can change; it does not measure the room or list products; an account is needed.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): a new account gets 3 free credits. Weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions, one-time packages and team plans all include unlimited renders on ArchiVinci's own engine; prices differ by country and are on the pricing page. Client or other commercial use needs an active plan.

Test AI interior design on your own space

Upload a photo of a room, describe the style, colors and materials you want, and ArchiVinci shows the space redesigned in your browser. A new account starts with 3 free credits.

InteriorGPT

InteriorGPT is a chat-based assistant for interior images: you describe the space in plain language and it returns photorealistic options. It works from photos, sketches and model screenshots.

InteriorGPT home page with a message box under the question “What do you want to render today?”

  • Suits: designers who prefer to describe changes in a conversation.

  • Limits: its pricing page lists no free plan, so regular use needs a subscription or a one-time pack.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): $19, $39, $79 or $149 a month for 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 images, or $10 to $75 a month billed yearly ($120 to $900 a year); a one-time $49 pack gives 250 images for 30 days. Every plan includes commercial use, variations, render history and upscale.

ArchiGPT AI

ArchiGPT AI is a chat-based design and rendering assistant for architecture, interiors and landscapes. Besides renders from a description, its site lists tasks such as applying textures, adding people or objects, changing the sky and lighting, close-up shots, renders from elevations or sections, coloring site and floor plans, and turning renders into technical drawings.

ArchiGPT home page section “Simple UI for Everyone” with a prompt bar, an Apply texture tag and example renders

  • Suits: architects who want one chat for exteriors, interiors and landscapes.

  • Limits: free trial renders only; ongoing use needs a plan or the one-time pack.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): the same plans as InteriorGPT, so the two most likely come from the same developer: $19 to $149 a month, $10 to $75 a month billed yearly, or $49 once for 250 images over 30 days, all with commercial use.

Spacely AI

Spacely AI renders and restyles interiors from photos, sketches and 3D models and connects to SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD and Rhino. Its Pro tools include Realistic Render, Auto Furnish, Point and Edit and material settings.

Spacely AI Realistic Render panel with a lighting option, an upload area for JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC images and a tool sidebar

  • Suits: designers who model in SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD or Rhino.

  • Limits: it runs on credits: the 40 free credits are a trial allowance, and top-ups cost extra.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): a free plan with 40 trial credits and a commercial licence; paid Personal (1 seat), Studio (up to 2 seats) and Agency (up to 5 seats) plans with 20 % off yearly; credit top-ups from $9 for 200 credits. The plan prices did not load on the page we read.

Planner 5D

Planner 5D is a 2D and 3D home and room planner with an AI Studio that restyles interiors while keeping the room layout, furnishes empty rooms and turns an uploaded floor plan into a 3D project. It runs in the browser and has apps for iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and visionOS.

  • Suits: homeowners and designers who want a plan to size and a furniture layout, with AI for ideas.

  • Limits: the free version has half of the furniture catalog; floor plan recognition, photorealistic renders and AI Studio credits come with the paid plans.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): free version; Premium $19.99 a month or $59.99 a year; Professional $49.99 a month or $399.99 a year.

Homestyler

Homestyler is a free online 3D home design tool with a large library of branded furniture models and cloud rendering. Its AI turns an uploaded 2D floor plan or sketch into an editable 3D house model, restyles a photo of a space and builds mood boards from an image, and an Interior Design Agent takes requests in a chat. It has iOS, Android and desktop apps.

  • Suits: people who want to build and furnish a 3D model of their home.

  • Limits: a full 3D editor takes longer to learn than a photo restyler.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): free to start; the paid plans are on its pricing page.

  • Limits: no free plan; editing, upscaling and the other extras start with Premium; its own FAQ says AI artefacts can appear, depending on the photo.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): Pro $49, Premium $99 and Ultra $199 a month for 1,000, 5,000 or 25,000 designs, or $29, $49 and $99 a month billed yearly ($349 to $1,199 a year). A commercial use licence comes with Pro.

  • Suits: homeowners who want to try ideas on a phone.

  • Limits: the free version has 3 designs at standard quality; HD downloads without a watermark start with Pro, and the commercial licence comes with Ultra.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): Pro $29, Premium $49 and Ultra $99 a month billed yearly ($349, $599 and $1,199 a year) for 1,000, 5,000 or 25,000 designs a month.

HomeDesigns AI

HomeDesigns AI redesigns interiors, exteriors and gardens from a photo and, as its site puts it, keeps the real walls, windows and layout; its tools include swapping colors and materials and, on Pro, a Furniture Finder.

HomeDesigns AI page with Interiors, Exteriors and Gardens tabs, before-and-after examples and settings for room type, mode and design style

  • Suits: homeowners who want targeted changes such as new colors or materials.

  • Limits: credits limit the number of designs, and tools such as Furniture Finder need the higher plans.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): Standard $22, Pro $29 and Expert $37 a month for 100, 1,000 or 2,000 credits, or $9, $11 and $14 a month billed yearly.

Paintit AI

Paintit AI combines a chat with room redesigns and links the result to real products: paint colors from Behr, Benjamin Moore, Dulux, Nippon Paint and Sherwin-Williams, and similar furniture from Amazon, IKEA, Jysk and Ashley.

MyRoomDesigner AI page with an upload button, room type tabs, style and color menus and an Add Product to Design option

  • Suits: people who want mood boards and a shopping list alongside the images.

  • Limits: the free version allows one room project and three style explorations a month.

Canva AI Interior Styler

Canva AI Interior Styler is an app inside the Canva editor: you upload a room photo, choose to restyle it, stage it or render a sketch, and pick one of more than 30 design styles.

  • Suits: people who already make presentations or mood boards in Canva.

  • Limits: not free: generating needs credits bought in the app; images up to 1536 × 1024 px avoid cropping, and files can be up to 3 MB.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): credits bought in the app; commercial use depends on your Canva plan.

AI Room Planner

AI Room Planner turns a room photo into styled versions and was free to use, in beta, when we checked.

  • Suits: quick, free style ideas.

  • Limits: you sign in with a link sent by email, and a beta tool can change at any time.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): free while in beta.

AI Tools for Real Estate and Virtual Staging

Virtual staging tools furnish an empty listing photo or swap the furniture so buyers can picture the space. ArchiVinci does this for empty rooms with AI virtual staging.

Virtual Staging AI

Virtual Staging AI furnishes empty rooms in listing photos for agents and photographers; furniture removal is included, and its plans list a turnaround of about 10 seconds.

Virtual Staging AI screen with options to remove existing furniture or add furniture by room type and style, and an upload area

  • Suits: agents and listing photographers.

  • Limits: plans count photos per month, and it stages and edits listing photos rather than designing a room from scratch.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): $16, $19, $39 or $79 a month billed yearly for 6, 20, 60 or 150 photos; its home page offers a free try.

ReimagineHome AI

ReimagineHome AI turns room and property photos into staged or redesigned versions, with tools such as emptying a room, landscaping, sky replacement, day to dusk and image upscaling.

ReimagineHome AI upload screen “Upload photos to start designing” with the accepted file formats and sample photos
  • Suits: real-estate teams and anyone with many photos to process.

  • Limits: credits run per plan, and the free start is 5 designs.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): Essential, Pro, Advanced and Agency plans from $14 to $99 a month.

Collov AI

Collov AI offers virtual staging and listing tools: multi-angle staging, chat edits, day-to-dusk photos, lawn replacement and, on the higher plans, virtual tours and 360° panoramas.

  • Suits: agents and brokerages that want staging plus listing extras.

  • Limits: most extras start with the Advanced plan.

  • Pricing (checked October 2026): $19, $49, $79 or $127 a month billed yearly for 60, 150, 263 or 526 photo credits; the Standard plan includes a commercial photo licence.

Free AI Interior Design Tools and Free Trials

Few tools are free for regular use. AI Room Planner was free in beta when we checked, and Spacely AI, Planner 5D, Homestyler, Paintit AI and MyRoomDesigner AI have free versions with limits. ReimagineHome AI gives 5 free designs, Remodel AI 3, ArchiGPT AI free trial renders and DecorAI a one-day trial with 3 designs. In ArchiVinci a new account gets 3 free credits to test your own images; client or other commercial use needs an active plan.

General AI Assistants and Image Generators

General assistants can also edit a room photo. As of October 2026, ChatGPT's image tool edits an uploaded photo from a description on every plan, including Free, with usage limits whose size OpenAI does not publish, and it offers an "Interior design" preset prompt; OpenAI notes that an edit can reach beyond the area you selected. Gemini also edits uploaded images, requires you to be signed in, and Google states that its images carry a visible and an invisible watermark. Neither is built for rooms alone, so the wording of the request does the work: see our ChatGPT prompts for room design, and for Google's image model, Nano Banana vs ArchiVinci.

What AI Interior Design Tools Can't Do

  • Measure: a generated image is not a plan, so check sizes before you buy furniture.

  • Keep every detail: each run draws a new image, so windows, doors and furniture can change; compare the result with your photo.

  • Find real products: objects in an image are suggestions unless the tool links them to products, as Paintit AI and MyRoomDesigner AI do; even then, check sizes and availability.

  • Replace a professional: structural changes, permits and budgets need a designer or a contractor; see how much interior designers charge.

  • Show a listing as it is: a staged photo shows a possibility, not the property, so check the rules of your market before you publish one.

How to Get Better Results

  • Photograph the room in daylight from a corner, with as much of the room in view as you can.

  • Clear clutter and keep doors and windows visible.

  • Describe materials and colors, not only a style name, for example "oak floor, white plaster walls, linen sofa".

  • Change one thing at a time when you refine a result.

  • Test two or three tools on the same photo before you choose a plan.

Which Tool Should You Choose?

Start from what you have. With a room photo and a few ideas, try Interior AI, DecorAI, Remodel AI or the free AI Room Planner; to plan a room to size, Planner 5D or Homestyler; for listings, Virtual Staging AI, ReimagineHome AI or Collov AI. If you work from sketches and model views and need interiors and exteriors in one place, try AI interior rendering in ArchiVinci with the 3 free credits of a new account. For apps without AI, see our list of design apps for your home, and for architecture and exteriors, AI render tools compared.

Try it in ArchiVinci

Upload a photo of a room and describe the look in a sentence: ArchiVinci generates a new image that follows your photo. A new account starts with 3 free credits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI tool for interior design?

It depends on what you start from. For quick restyles of a room photo, Interior AI, DecorAI or Remodel AI; for plans to size in 2D and 3D, Planner 5D or Homestyler; for listings, Virtual Staging AI or Collov AI; for sketches and model views, with interiors and exteriors in one app, ArchiVinci. Try two tools on the same photo before you pay.

Are there free AI tools for interior design?

Yes, with limits. AI Room Planner was free while in beta when we checked, and Spacely AI, Planner 5D, Homestyler, Paintit AI and MyRoomDesigner AI have free versions; others offer trials, such as 5 designs in ReimagineHome AI and 3 in Remodel AI. In ArchiVinci a new account gets 3 free credits.

How accurate are AI interior design tools?

They are good for ideas, not for measurements. A generated image follows your photo but can change details such as window sizes or furniture proportions, and vendors such as Interior AI say artefacts can appear. Check every result against your room, and use a planner such as Planner 5D when sizes matter.

Can I use a sketch or a 3D model view instead of a photo?

Some tools accept them: ArchiVinci, InteriorGPT, ArchiGPT AI and Spacely AI work from sketches and model views, and DecorAI and Canva AI Interior Styler have sketch modes. In ArchiVinci, see sketch to render AI for drawings and 3D render AI for model views.

Can I use the results commercially?

It depends on the plan. Commercial use comes with Pro in Interior AI and Paintit AI and with Ultra in Remodel AI, while Spacely AI's free plan includes a commercial licence. In ArchiVinci, client or other commercial use needs an active plan. Check the vendor's terms before you use an image in a listing or a client presentation.

What is the difference between redesigning a room and staging it?

Redesigning restyles a furnished room with new colors, materials and furniture. Virtual staging furnishes an empty room in a listing photo, often after removing the old furniture, so buyers can picture the space. Staging tools such as Virtual Staging AI and Collov AI are built for the second job.

Do AI interior design tools have an API?

Some do: Remodel AI lists API access on its Ultra plan, and Paintit AI offers an API for business integration (checked October 2026). Most other tools in this list are used in the browser or in an app.
